This introduction to the principles of improvisation will increase your confidence on stage and in life and will give you the skills you need to think quickly on your feet. Our Level 1 class will focus on the principle of making strong decisions about who you are in a scene, committing to your decisions, moving a scene forward and working effectively with your scene partners. This level is designed to combine the fun of group games, trust, team building, agreement, and active listening with the fundamental tools you need to make your improv fun and successful and increase your confidence on stage. This is an introduction to The Tribe's principles of improvisation.

Improv is more than comedy.
Trained improvisers are quick on their feet, limitlessly creative, and thrive equally in independence and collaboration. The fundamentals of improvisation can be applied to any facet of your life, whether it be your career, artistic endeavors, or social interactions. We offer training that will benefit everyone, from experienced performers to amused observers.

One of the many reasons people are taking improvisation classes all over the country is that improvisation is about responding to what's happening in the moment. Participants will encourage each other to discover; react emotionally, imaginatively, and authentically; and value their own experiences and others'. It's about listening and responding, swallowing your inhibitions and accessing your unique intuition. These are skills that make a difference in the world. A background in improvisation not only gives you performance skills; it gives you life skills as well.
